Televangelist Jim Bakker exploiting tax rules for religious organizations
Dear Senator / Congressman [insert name here]
I am respectfully petitioning you to investigate what I believe is blatant exploitation of our tax code at the expense of the American public. Televangelist Jim Bakker, the so-called pastor who went to prison in the 1980s for tax fraud, is back on television again, and nearly his entire show is devoted to selling products. All of his show discussion, or what may be construed as 'preaching', is used as a lead-in to product sales. Here is only a small sampling of what he sells:
Dehydrated Food = $3,000
Camera Desktop Ornament = $1,000
Silver Sol Miracle Ointment = $100
Hand-powered survival flashlights = $20
The list of products for sale goes on and on. Jim Bakker stokes fear in his audience by telling them that the world will soon be ending, staple foods are in short supply, and that their dollars will ultimately be worthless as currency. He then heavily pitches them his goods for sale and takes their so-called worthless money. His sham ministry, of course, receives a tax-exemption while engaging in this behavior.
I presume that he gets away with this by the simple fact that he refers to these items as 'Love Gifts' as opposed to 'Items For Sale'. This is wrong. Absolutely, without a doubt, it's wrong. These are not gifts, they are items being sold in a business transaction. Bakker, in fact, has a warehouse where he stocks these 'gifts' for distribution to 'donors'. Would a church dispensing only 'love gifts' require a distribution warehouse?
Jim Bakker now hosts an unaccredited college at his Morningside community which purports to train 'students' in the art of television ministry. He charges these 'students' between $7k - $8k per semester. He then uses these students as free, unpaid labor to operate his camera equipment and produce his show. The tuition? Paid for through 'scholarship funds' solicited from his audience.
Jim Bakker's ministry is registered in the name of his mother-in-law, and he reportedly makes only $400 per week in income. You and I both know that his declared income is a load of garbage, and that the only reason he takes such little payment is because he still owes millions of dollars to the American public. One need only look at the various vacation properties he frequents to understand that he is likely laundering money through various figureheads in his ministry in order to personally benefit from the ministry's income while avoiding payment of back taxes.
I am utterly dismayed by the fact that Jim Bakker gets away with this exploitation of our tax code by engaging in product sales through his tax-exempt ministry. While he may not be the only one, he is certainly the most public and the least delicate in his blatant disregard for our tax laws. With his fear-mongering and deception of the naive, he also flies in the face of basic human decency. It's said that there's a sucker born every minute; that doesn't mean it's right to take advantage of them.
A quick internet search for 'Jim Bakker Show fraud' will uncover the many different websites / discussion forums / YouTube videos which record and publicize Jim Bakker's shenanigans. They are highly trafficked and are visited by multitudes of other like-minded Americans who are completely fed up with Jim Bakker. Our shared disgust crosses political boundaries, as we are both male and female, religious and non-religious, Red, Blue and Independent. We are Americans first and foremost, and we are disgusted with people like Jim Bakker who rip people off in the name of religion.
Action taken against Jim Bakker will go a long way towards restoring faith in the elected official. Why? Because it is the right thing to do. There is no favor to be won, only the satisfaction of knowing that truth and decency triumphs over lies and impropriety. Truth, justice, and the American way is what defines us, not thieves and cheats like Jim Bakker.
As a human being and an American, I ask you to please investigate Jim Bakker. If he is found committing wrongdoing, hold him accountable (once again) for his lying and thievery. It will take little more than five minutes of viewing his show to understand why he is so very wrong, and possibly criminal, in his actions. His show (The Jim Bakker Show) is broadcast Monday through Friday at 7am on your local religious television station.

I'm less interested in where you think my degrees come from - because I know where they come from, and I'm working in my chosen field - and I am much more interested in what you think of Jim Bakker's school.
4:06pm needs to be added into this too - 4:06 anon said that nobody gets a degree in less then 4 years. Not entirely true, there are summer semesters that can shorten the time needed for a Bachelor's degree (which yes, is typically 4 years), and a Master's degree depends on the particular school and field (but can be from 2-4 years, depending on course work only, or course work plus thesis) and a PhD can range as well... but never mind that.
Here are some of the problems with Bakker's "school" - no fixed entry date, no fixed graduation date, no course descriptions, no credit requirements, only an "academic element" (which does not help if you are working in a business and need to communicate in writing), no information about what you do get at the end (or when the end is), or anything else that goes along with a real school. These students appear to be coming out of high school, with no Bachelor's degree, so they are NOT Master's level.
One more issue: someone may have terrific technical skills, but out in the real world, that person is competing against people who have the same skills plus a degree/diploma/certificate. The one with the paperwork wins. It was not always this way, but as time goes on, the degrees have become more and more important - if for nothing else to weed people out when there are lots of applicants. That is just life today.

The fact that Nate is at The Dream Center in NYC is common knowledge and has been posted here before. He is an INTERN there. The Dream Center is NOT a media related job. It is a non-profit that helps the needy and I am NOT putting down Nate in any fashion. The truth is that The Dream Center is:
a) not a TV station
b) not a TV network
c) not a radio station
d) not a major production company which produces national shows
e) is not even a retail outlet that sells professional broadcast equipment and supplies
Therefore, the answer to my question remains open and unanswered.
The painfully chilling FACTS are these:

A VOCATIONAL SCHOOL is a program or training institution which claims you will receive EMPLOYMENT IN YOUR CHOSEN PROFESSION if you enroll in that school.
Haven't you been at home watching TV and saw the commercials where the announcer tells how you can have a wonderful career as a truck driver, or a nurse, or in the field of Criminal Justice, and then says:
"94% of our students go on to successful careers in their field."
The school is placing their job placement figures out over the air so potential students know that, out of every 100 students, 94 of them actually get a job in their chosen profession. They are proud of these figures and are using them to get more students to enroll in their program!
The EMPLOYMENT RATE of Jim Bakker's Masters Media, what he calls "College", is 0.0%. That's ZERO JOBS for 100% of all students attended which means the "college" is A COMPLETE & TOTAL FAILURE.
You don't have to take my word for it! Get on the phone and contact ANY EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONAL ANYWHERE and ask them if a 0.0% employment rate of a vocational school means that the vocational school is a success. Then please come back here and let us all know what the educational professional had to tell you.
The reason why Bakker does not care that the "college" is a failure is because he knows it is not a "college". It is a program which has only been set up so he can get free help to produce his show and not have to pay the wages a professional in media would demand. Simple as that. It is cheaper for him to convince young people to come there and work for free than it is to hire a crew of professionals. He is only allowed to get away with this because he is doing it in the name of the church. If this were a legitimate, secular, vocational school, which has to be licensed by the state and registered with The United States Department of Education, he would be back in federal prison right now for consumer fraud and wire and mail fraud.
Brother Dortch, you should be placed on the payroll at Morningside and allowed to talk to all students who want to enroll there before they make the mistake of their lives by enrolling in the fake college. Jim Bakker would never tell any student that, neither would Theron Ventura, Jerry Jones, Wendy Youngblood, or any other employee who would be fired for speaking the truth. What you have just now shared with the students is more actual truth than they will receive in four years at Morningside and you are to be commended for it.

I want to be clear: I mentioned my post-secondary education only to support my comments that Jim Bakker is NOT running a true school - in other words: to say that based on experience, I know the research you need to do when choosing your school, what the application process is like, what you need to do to complete your degree/certificate/diploma (and on the other side, what the school needs to offer you), and how you translate your schooling into a career in the world of paid work/what the obstacles are in that transition.
I hoped that people would comment on why they believe Jim Bakker's school is real - what is it that they see or know that I do not. But, we can all look at the comments in the past day or two and see how that went.
Now that you, Brother Dortch, have written *another* clear review of issues with the "school" - and also been clear that this is NOT a personal attack on Nate - I'm interested to see what people have to say about the "school."
I hope that the people who posted earlier will post again, and directly address what we're talking about re: Bakker's school.

What Bakker needs to do is simply "come clean" regarding the fake school and QUIT CALLING IT A COLLEGE! It is not one!
All potential "students" should be told that this a church sponsored workshop and is primarily about studying the Bible occasionally and seeing first hand how Bakker's show is produced and that they may learn a little about TV from hands-on experience only. All students should be told, in advance, that there are no college professors employed there and that they will simply learn by getting help from the other students and/or employees. He should immediately drop the sales pitch that they will all get jobs in the field (fraud). He needs to immediately drop the part about them being "prophets in training" (fraud) and that the education is more valuable than a four-year Bachelors Degree (fraud).
But the main problem with Bakker is that he is Jim Bakker. Without a lie and a fraud to sell, there is absolutely no reason for him to be on the air. I truly wish this were not true, but after writing a book called "I Was Wrong" in which he said he would never preach on TV ever again and that he would never lust after money ever again, the handwriting is on the wall that none of these statements are true. Anybody wishing to find out for themselves if Bakker is lusting after money again, go to the Stone County, MO courthouse and get a public records set of documents showing the 23 foot boat, the cars, and all the real estate (all in his mother in law's name) and you can see that, when Char Graham dies, all of the people who have sent in cash thinking they are doing God's work, have instead, sent in money to make Lori Beth Graham rich! Where is Lori's money going to go? There is a very good argument that one can put forth that it is all going to go straight up her nose!

Brother D--Excellent post! I also must say that any student who wants to know the real truth has to go no further than your posting about what is truthfully going on at the school. I believe that, with the return of Tammy Sue, Bakker is just trying to insure that his daughter has something left for her (royalties) in case her and Lori blow up again and get into another major fight. After all, Jim is hiding assets from the IRS to avoid paying taxes and he will not be in a position to leave Tammy or Jamie anything because nothing is in his name. It would not surprise me if his son writes a book and Bakker sells it on his show so Jamie can have something to make money from once Jim is gone. I remember that Willie Nelson, due to an accountant's error, found himself about 8 million dollars in debt to the IRS and paid back every dime. The St. Louis Post said Bakker is only about 6 million in debt to the IRS and I am wondering why Jim just doesn't bite the bullet and pay them back in full. Wouldn't that make him look more like an honest man and less of a cheat? I think it would. How can a true man of God live his life, day after day, running from the law like he is a wanted criminal instead of just facing the music and correcting the problem?

Unbelievable!!! But True! It seems everyday I turn on the TV, the widely popular Jim Bakker show is picked up on another channel. He's turning into some sort of "Pop culture" hero. I'll offer my theory for this current phenom. the charismatic Zach Drew. I think the younger generation has found a spokesman for how they feel, someone they can relate to and look up to in Mr Drew. I feel that the Pastor has what you might refer to as an "eye for genius" which in turn reveal his genius, under the old "takes one to know one" theory. Putting those little problems that Bakker had in the past, it is amazing how everything he touches turns to gold. I would say someone in a high place has had his eye on Jim, if you get my drift. Zach continued success, you have a great future with Jim.

Kelsey, I am not the one to answer your question but everytime I have heard him talk about it on TV, which has been 100s of times, he has always held himself out as a martyr. As Brother Dortch mentioned above, he wrote the book "I Was Wrong" and then proceeded to do the exact same things he said he was sorry for. I believe he is only sorry he got caught. That is all. Also, you will never, ever, hear Bakker discuss the topic of homosexuality. He has completely swept that subject under the rug.
Whenever I have heard him address the subject of his incarceration it was always in terms of a "victim", a sort of denial. Of course, I've only heard him speak of this on limited occasions so my opinion may not be the most accurate or the fairest. What I notice though, and I may be wrong, he seems to put himself in a position that he has suffered persecution for a cause, like a martyr I suppose. That he has undergone a "test of fire" and survived. He likes to bring up the phrase "they told me I would never be back", like he has shown them and proven them wrong, that seems to mean a great deal to him.

The answer to your question Kelsey, is probably both. Considering the fact that the Judge was thrown off the case and the sentence reduced from 45 years to less than 5 (I believe), Jim certainly was overly judged and overly sentenced.
And, if Jim Bakker belongs in prison, so do most mega-church pastors, almost every leader of a television ministry, most non-profit heads, most corporate CEOs, and certainly every politician in our federal government and all of its branches.

4:47pm - fair point, the only person who knows what Jim Bakker thinks is Jim Bakker.
But here is what we do know (and I mean those of us who only see what he says on TV) - on his show, in the past few months (less than 4, I would guess) I have heard Jim Bakker say:
(a) I made a mistake. (note the singular there - I have never heard him say which one thing was a mistake. From media reports and his conviction we can see that several things were not on the up-and-up)
(b) Man condemned me. (this one suggests that Jim did nothing wrong, and others took him down)
(c) My ministry was stolen from me. (again, suggests a set-up)
(d) Prison was my personal desert. *plus* I read the Bible for the first time in prison (I put these two together because Jim said them together - these suggest that God arranged prison so that Jim would have time to study the Bible)
Now, I know we are not in a court of law, but it is worthwhile to note that in a court of law, witnesses are called, and witnesses are allowed to testify as to what they heard or saw directly. So it IS reasonable for someone to come here and report what they heard or saw.
Since we are on a blog, people also have the latitude to draw conclusions based on what they heard and/or saw, and that is not allowed in court, but you know, we're here on this website.
Interesting thing, though, 3:11pm told us s/he lived at Morningside, and presented his/her opinion. 4:47pm comes on and tells 3:11 s/he is full of it and nobody knows what Jim thinks, then says Jim probably thinks both. If 3:11pm cannot give an opinion based on living at Morningside, why does 4:47pm get to give an opinion?
There is a lot confusion in the Jim Bakker ministry and it starts from the top on down. On some days Jim says he was wrong, on other days he was wronged. I have heard many say that they think Jim is bipolar or has some sort of mental health issues. I really don't know and don't care if it's mental health issues, or if it's his habit of lying. I personally believe Jim does what is expedient to bring in the money.

Oh big deal 3:11 lived at Morningside, I suppose that makes him an expert witness. I live where I live does that give me more of an insight on what say the Mayor is like or someone who I've never met personally. In what capacity did 3:11 live at Morningside? All this is "hearrsay" with absolutely no corroboration whatsoever!! Like the person who says above" alot of people say Jim is bipolar", Tanya says "court of law", but court of laws have what is referred to as "rules of evidence" which obviously she is ignorant of, ask a Lawyer what a judge would rule on regarding alot of this so called evidence. I love these trolls. Anyone who disagrees with their argument, the way it is, is automatically a "zombie". I don't care for Bakker much, but I also don't care how some of these so called "trolls" become so defensive so easily. It's like they are absorbed in this joker and fall to pieces if anything positive is said about him. I;m sure he's not 100% the devil incarnate. With all due respect to the Morningside employees (and thank-you for actually being civil in the last 24 hours) I caution you about using what you term to be "smoke & mirrors" as your defense to others arguments and even bringing up what would or would not be considered evidence in a court of law.
Tanya does not have a 5 year federal prison sentence behind her in which evidence was deemed appropriate and proper in a court of law and was successfully used in court to convict her.
Furthermore, Tanya did not write a book called "I Was Wrong" which admitted her wrongdoings that sent her to prison.
Also, Tanya is not claiming to be a minister or pastor who has a well documented history of homosexualality and adultry in her past that is so well documented even the names of the gay lovers are widely known by millions.
Also, If a blogger, who has lived at Morningside, comes to this site they are certainy permitted to express their opinions as to what they saw and heard and witnessed firsthand. We have had many here who have done just that. I am sure you all know the story of Susan Ruiz. Was it fair to Susan and her daughters what you did to her? Was it Godlike how you treated her? Was it even decent treatment of a fellow human being what you Morningside people did to the life of Susan Ruiz? I should say not!

The other day I was looking for a doctor. I found one close to my home who accepted my insurance. looked fine, so I made an appointment. Afterwards, I decided to Google his name. I found many negative comments, from billing errors to bedside manner. It made me uncomfortable, so I cancelled the appointment.
In the same way, people need to be aware of the negativity associated with Jim Bakker, not just the persona they see on TV. If someone were to come across Jim Bakker's show, and take just a moment to Google his current activities, they may be persuaded to think twice about donating to his ministry.
That is the point of this blog.
Ron's writing is incredibly funny and spot on. His intuition is correct and he's got a great way with words. I haven't laughed out loud while reading until I came across this website.
My husband isn't thrilled that I comment here, only because he thinks a religious zealot might try to mail bomb us, but I think ultimately this is a good conversation. Other than TBC accusing me of being Satan, I've had a good time talking to all of you and hearing what you think.

I get the same feeling with the other side as Kelsey gets with the Bakker supporters. There are people like the Pieman just dying to throw something at us. It's the old scenerio, start with pies and progress to rocks and then bombs, there is not stopping with anti-Bakker zealots. Any younger man who is obseesed with throwing a pie in the face of a 70+ senior obviously has a screw loose. I also tried finding evidence that JB has a Doctorate as he claims, but no such information is available. On Wikipedia, it mentions he attended a college where he met Tammy Faye, but it goes on to say they left the college to pursue ministry work.
If he has any college degree, wouldn't that information be available? Even if he had an "honorary" degree, like the kind bestowed on celebrities, you'd think there would be mention of it somewhere online.

Of course Talk Is Cheap isn't familiar with the Susie Ruiz fiasco. Why? I believe it's because he/she don't want to talk about it. If the truth of what was done to her got out, it would validate all the people who are telling the truth about the bizarre things that go on at Morningside. We won't hear from talk is cheap again about this subject. At least we won't hear the truth. We will just be talked down to like we are the problem. With these kind of people you become the problem when you say there is a problem. The reason they attack is an attempt to distract and confuse so the truth doesn't come out.
I bet the Susan Ruiz story is widely known and talked about. That's why people at Morningside are not being candid. If they posted their honest qualms, they might be "discovered" and then treated in the same way Ms. Ruiz was.
In the same way that TBC wouldn't answer the questions I posted about the Biblical accuracy of some of Jim's sermons, I think some people at Morningside have learned it's better not to entertain any of the questions that niggle their minds.
I probably wouldn't question things either, if I had hundreds of thousands of dollars wrapped up in Morningside real estate. I'm sure it isn't safe to speak out until you've sold your property, lost your job, or you've already put some distance between yourself and Blue Eye, Mo.
I am not a man of the cloth or a humble servant of God for the past 50 years, but it is my humble opinion that I will not hear back from "talk is cheap" regarding the Susan Ruiz fiasco at Morningside.
I am used to that. It seems that, whenever I wish to engage in a reasonable debate with a Bakker supporter, they simply go to the poster above me or the poster below me and ignore my questions.

In order to obtain a Doctorate degree, one needs to first obtain both an undergrad Bachelors degree and then a Masters degree after that.
Bakker was in at least three federal prisons that I am aware of although I do not have them memorized and cannot call them all out by name. The first was an insane asylum which he was referring to on television just the other day. The second was a maximum security prison, I believe, and the last was a minimum security prison where I believe he spent most of his incarceration and thus is the prison where the alleged Doctorate came from. The names of all these prisons, which housed Bakker, are public records and would be easy to discover by anyone.
If you are really serious in finding out about the merits of this so-called Doctorate degree, I would address a letter to the Warden of his last prison and state to him the following facts:
1) Bakker was a college dropout and never received a Bachelors degree.
2) Therefore, Bakker did not possess a Masters degree when he entered that Warden's prison either.
3) Bakker is boasting on TV that he earned a Doctorate in Sociology degree while in prison.
4) Ask: How is it possible to obtain a Doctorate without having the necessasy prequel degrees first.
I will bet you that you will discover the prision degree is, like a Masters Media Certificate, a worthless piece of paper and that is why Bakker does not use the term "Doctor" in front of his name. He knows it would be a joke. This is probably some "busy work" program in prison solely designed to keep the prisoners occupied so they are not fashioning weapons, doing drugs, joining gangs, or getting involved with countless other illegal activities that the prison offers.
One more thing, Kelsey, paste the letter here when and if you ever receive a response. We all must see that indeed!

No need to bother the wardens. I took a look at Jim's official website, and under his bio, there is no mention of any college education or degrees (honorary or actual).
However, I found this piece in his own bio interesting:

PTL was placed into bankruptcy by its new management and in 1989 Jim was indicted and sentenced to 45 years in prison on charges of overbooking the lodging space at Heritage USA. Jim was re-sentenced in 1991 to 18 years and then later reduced to eight years in Federal prison. He was released on parole in 1994 after serving five years. On July 22, 1996, a Federal Jury ruled that PTL was not selling securities by offering Lifetime Partnerships in Heritage USA, affirming what Jim said since the very first day he was indicted. His case was overturned and the judge was dismissed from the case."
You can get some infomation at "the United States Dept. of Justice", Bureau of Prisons Website. I think there is a request for information section. I doubt if they would release that information though, they are pretty stringent about privacy. Don't forget while Bakker was in the joint, he did a lot of beneficial volunteer work as a Bible studies teacher and counselor in the vocational prison admin section, so he is pretty much liked by the Warden and authorities, he did not sit on his bunk and mope, but got involved with helping inmates. Something you people have no comprehesion about, helping people.

The Bakker supporters, once this blog took off and started bothering people, could have gotten together and said, "we're going to defend this ministry by speaking the truth in love to these people. It is a fact, not speculation, that two sets of books were kept at PTL. One was the truthful set of books and the other was the "cooked books" which were fake books given to the government, by Bakker, to mislead them into thinking that church money was being spent in areas other than the excesses in which this money was actually being spent.
Government auditors, who were able to examine BOTH sets of books and then compare them to actual PTL bank accounts, were able to determine, factually, that
LESS THAN 3%
of the PTL funds were actually spent in helping people. That's TWO.SOMETHING PER CENT that went to helping other people which the blogger claims is so important.
Meanwhile, Bakker lived in a $600,000 house with a boat docked in back, had four other condos, private plane, and was reported to have once taken $6000 of church funds to put down on a Corvette, as he also drove a Rolls Royce and other church bought cars too, and also had the infamous air conditioned doghouse and electric heated palm trees so they would stay alive in the winter.

I think it is largely helping one person and his family. I won't say now who I think this one person is.
What I will say is that ANY church that claims to be helping people should do a much better job than keeping over 97 cents of every dollar collected to help them--unless you are a severely deformed, very sick, 22 inch tall, crippled boy with no legs named Kevin Whittum. In that case, your own relative, who was supposedly a "Pastor," would go on to steal more than 50% (over 1.5 million dollars) from you and cause you to be evicted from your own house because of lack of funding.
Call me a fool! But something tells me that is helping no one at all except the one person I will not call out by name and I don't care if you call me any names or not for exposing the truth as it really is. I would rather have the truth, as it really is, exposed to the public as opposed to what I want the truth to be in my own mind!

What was done to Susan Ruiz and her daughters was shocking, but terrible things have been done to many that were able to leave.

I appreciate your response Friend of Susan's. Thank-you. Most people are well aware of the extreme hatefullness and sub par human treatment Susan received after being falsely branded a "witch" while living at Morningside.
I was aware she had purchased her $330,000 condo for cash but I did not know if she was still living there, renting it out, or had sold it. I am sorry she had to take such a loss, but it has been widely circulated at Morningside that she overpaid for the condo in the first place. This, I'm sure, was because of the fact that, after moving from half a country away, to Morningside, she believed that it would be an asset to her daughters and herself to reside in a so-called "Christian Community" and be able to help out, as a volunteer, with the various church projects, as she did--including The Jim Bakker Show.
One day, while she was not at home, somebody entered her condo and saw, from the wrong angle, a Catholic statue of Jesus, with His head bowed on the cross, as it was hanging on her wall. When viewed straight on, it was easy to tell exactly what this was. When viewed from the side, at between a 45 to 90 degree angle, it appeared that the Jesus had no head (Actually His head was bowed) and thus came tales which were spread all around Morningside that Susan was a "witch". It was said that her "headless Jesus" meant that she was really a witch. She was shunned, avoided, and hated by everybody there because of this. One night at Morningside, a poster to this blog, was present to find all the residents with curved "ram's horns" and, when asked, stated they were blowing these horns because witches were living there and the horns were being used to help rid the place of the witches.
I have asked Morningside residents/employees to comment about how the treatment of Susan Ruiz at Morningside was a Christian-like thing to do and guess what? You'll never believe this. THEY DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT!

Just popped in to add one more reason Jim Bakker gave for his time in prison - on one of the shows with the Rabbi I just heard Jim say:
God spoke to Jim when he was sent to prison and said (I'm paraphrasing): I haven't changed my mind, for every Sabbath that you did not rest, you will now give back to Me in these 5 years of prison.
So if we stick to JUST what Jim has attributed to God, was prison: (a) Jim's personal desert, to give him time to read the Bible, or (b) payback for all the Sabbath days that Jim did not rest on.
Now we can get back to an anonymous calling Brother D. a "weasel." Because that hasn't gotten boring at all.

I've reviewed the past several comments, and there is a trend.
Let me say first - and Ron has said this before: on this blog, underneath the jokes, sarcasm, etc etc, there is accurate information/concerns about Jim Bakker's past behaviour, and present behaviour (including the evidence that he has returned to old habits, and is taking steps to avoid the still-standing consequences of his past).
So we have "zombie," and then we got "troll" - I don't have an issue with that. Ron states right on his blog that he does not moderate (except in extreme cases), so free speech reigns, and free speech is a valuable thing to have.
The trend I have noticed - go back and read the comments if you want to shape your own opinion - is that the Bakker-supporter comments have become more overtly nasty.
What gives?
Let's just look at the latest: "weasel-fest." From my perspective, an anonymous comes on, states they "suspect" they know who Brother Dortch is (see 5:53pm), and then go on a weasel-crusade against Brother Dortch. By 7pm an anonymous, odds are the same one, wrote that Brother D. IS "a disgruntled and embittered ex-employee who was a weasel from the start."
So we've gone from "suspect" Brother D. is Person X at 5:53pm to a statement that presents this as truth at 7pm. By 7:17pm the anonymous is writing a full-on personal attack based on this (created)fact. And, lest we forget, this anonymous has not provided any rational or relevant information to further the discussion in these comments.
Those of us who oppose Bakker's behaviour get accused of "smoke and mirrors" yet we have just witnessed the evolution of a "suspicion" into "Truth."
Disturbing.
It only makes sense that the fired or people who got feed up will post negative comments on this blog. Some zombie working for the man will never say anything bad about him because that is where they get their paycheck. Those hillbilly zombies have no where else to work.

The Bakker supporters are not answering Tanya's or Brother Dortch's questions, and they aren't answering mine either.
What did the Morningside people do to help the victims of the Branson tornado? Did the Master Commission kids help anyone? Did they do volunteer clean up? Did Jim send them out with buckets of food to help the people who lost everything? Did they offer any of those empty condos to people who lost their homes?
They claim they help people. Again can I have an answer to my question, Can you show us all a tangible way that the Jim Bakker ministry helped out the community of Branson after the tornado! After all it was in your backyard. You didn't have to get in your mobile tv studio and drive all over the US to film flooding, tornado damage etc. I remember Jim Bakker scolding the church last year that they weren't doing enough to help people in the recovery after the tornadoes. Again, what did his church do?
ANSWER THE QUESTIONS INSTEAD OF ATTACKING PEOPLE WHO ARE ASKING LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS!
If Jim Bakker and company are christians and this is a true ministry you would see it in their words and deeds. I'm not convinced.

I must admit I often get so thoroughly entertained by coming here, to read the blog comments, there are times when I almost fall out of my chair laughing! The bumbling idiot who said such things as “I suspect you are” and “You’re probably one of” and “I really don’t know” about this or that, and “I’m not sure what,” as well as other phrases, then proceeded to use these non-factual suppositions and instantly turn them all into facts. It was hilarious! They chastised a person, and gave a full history of his life, when they don’t even know, or have the slightest idea about, who they are actually talking to or talking about. Instantly, in the blink of an eye, the guesses became facts and the person who demonstrated what patience, and the true love of God is really all about, was not the Bakker supporter at all but the anti-Bakker supporter.
The reason why this site is racking up the numbers that it is, has to do with the fact that all people, both pro and con, are sharing stories and information about the hypocrisy that can be found in Bakker’s ministry. Jim says: “We are a community of love and worship at Morningside” and then this loving community proceeds to treat one of its own residents in the most vile and hateful manner that is humanly possible. Meanwhile, Bakker’s own employees come on here and release to the public what is obviously inside information, that only ministry personnel would be privy to, and that obviously has to do with the fact that even the very employees, themselves, are sick and tired of being overworked and underpaid and verbally abused, or whatever else is going on at the ministry. They cannot wait to get out of there and tell the world what is happening with this hypocritical organization.
One thing is for certain. It sure does not make Jim Bakker look very good that he has such disloyalty among his ranks and they are willing to open up to the world about how he conducts business. Then, the next day, they'll go into the compound and collect a paycheck in that tiny town which is so small there are no other jobs to be had so they put up with the B.S. simply to collect a paycheck. I, for one, am glad his employees are disloyal as it is the perfect way we can all learn more about the actual truth of what really goes down each day at the compound. I am hoping the government is also reading this site and keeping tabs on Jimmy Boy too.

I am not very familiar with Harry Potter, but to be sure, I did a quick internet search, and the family you are referring to are "the Weasleys" - a family of pure-blood wizards in the Potter world.
I'll just type that again - the family name is "Weasley."
However, if you look up the correct spelling of a particular animal called a "weasel" you will find that this is a slang that means: a sneaky person who evades obligations and misleads, a "stool pigeon."
This slang definition matches what the anonymous was accusing Brother Dortch of - so to me it seemed like a misspelling, and I went ahead and spelled it correctly.
While we are talking about it, the main point was not the name-calling, it was the EVOLUTION OF A SUSPICION INTO TRUTH, and a personal attack on one individual based on that manufactured truth.

I do not see the connection between where/how she got the money, and the treatment of her that has been discussed on this blog.
Is there a connection? Or is it simply innuendo - trying to say something without actually saying it, for example, insinuating that she must have gotten the money in an amoral way.
I do not have the answer about her finances, and I will make my point clear: the issue presented to date is not her finances, rather, it is how she was treated when in residence at Morningside.
You could email Susan Ruiz directly, at the email provided earlier in these comments - since you have not, it seems that your post is more about innuendo and less about actually searching for relevant knowledge.

Do these repeated questions about how Susan Ruiz got the money for the condo mean that we need to know how every resident of Morningside got the money to purchase their condo?

If it is important to know where/how Susan Ruiz got the money to purchase a condo (and note: I don't know, and I'm willing to bet most of us don't know the details of that particular transaction - how much was a down payment, what the interest rate was, etc etc) then surely it is important to know how every other resident got their money, yes?

I have no idea how you know that Susan is a millionaire, or "obviously loaded" - but since you know that, does it really matter what the exact figure is in her bank account?
To make sure I understand - if Susan is a millionaire, then her being treated badly is OK, i.e., "will never invoke sympathy..." However, if she is destitute then she is useful as a symbol to evoke sympathy for a cause.

I lived at Morningside so I what I share is not not speculation, innuendo or hearsay. I had a front row seat to the evil, nasty, and vile way Susan was treated. I was told not to be her friend. Nobody has offered a different scenario, though there's been a lot of deflecting through: name-calling (weasel-gate), innuendo (where oh where could all that money have come from), combination of assumption and condemnation (she's a millionaire, and as such does not evoke sympathy... may be some jealousy in that one), censorship (keep your opinion to yourself), and evasion of a direct question where Brother D. said that if his question about Susan was not addressed he would take the version presented in these comments as truth.

I hadn't even lived there a week before I was warned to stay away from her! The people who warned me maligned her so bad I wouldn't even think of repeating what was said. I guess the people you know must be living under some rock, or in one of those caves on the property.
Maybe, just maybe, there are a few good people out there that don't gossip, good for them! And good for you, they are your friends! I am sorry I didn't get to know them while I lived there. It would have been refreshing to spend time with people who weren't catty gossips!
