Jim Bakker exploits 9/11 attacks to sell product, censors YouTube videos of his own show

Pastor Jim Bakker throwing a temper tantrum
If you hadn't already noticed, Jim Bakker and Morningside Church, Inc requested that the Foodbucket Fanpage YouTube videos documenting his slimy actions be taken down out of public view. This confuses me, Pastor Jim. Because if you're preaching the gospel, that divine truth provided by God for all mankind to hear, shouldn't you want this message being spread as far and wide as possible? Isn't that what a true man of God would want?

To be clear, the videos of Jim Bakker that were on YouTube were no different than those Jim puts out every weekday morning, they were only shorter in duration. Small clips, unedited and unchanged. The only thing added to them was my critique, which was apparently spot on since Jim couldn't bear having them available for the world to read.

Let me tell you a little something, Pastor Bakker. Real preachers don't sacrifice Christ's message in order to save themselves from scorn. In taking down videos of your very own show, you did just that.
Morningside Church Inc doesn't want God's message on YouTube?
Wait, I take that back. You didn't sacrifice Christ's message to save yourself, because the truth of the matter is that you, Jim Bakker, didn't deliver any gospel message. You aren't a real preacher at all, you just play one on tv. You're a convicted con man who exploits old people, dumb people, and the tax code in order to leech yourself a livelihood. You had the videos removed because you don't want people getting clued-in to your game. Considering that nearly your entire show consists of peddling fear-buckets and other garbage, and that you are, in fact, a convicted fraud who served time in federal prison, it's not too hard to reach that conclusion. A real preacher wouldn't use their entire show to sell product, Jim. And if they were selling anything to fund-raise it would be sermon CDs, not Jim Bakker-branded Cereal.

While I could petition YouTube to reinstate the Foodbucket Fanpage videos, I don't have the time or the desire to fight Jim Bakker's Morningside Inc over them. However, I treat my own words and thoughts with far more reverence. As a member of the media and with Fair Use and the 1stAmendment on my side, you will not silence me here, Jim.

9/11 victims being exploited for a $55 book
You are corrupt, Jim Bakker, and you are a corrupting influence on everything around you. The kids you've duped into 'attending' your fake college have been corrupted by you. The presumably well-meaning Christians who follow you have been corrupted as well. Instead of worshiping God, they worship you. They give you money so you can spend it on 15-foot gargoyles and self-serving projects like Lori's House, then they come to this blog and defend you as if you were Christ himself.

You are so corrupting that you are able to use video of the 9/11 terrorist attacks as a scare tactic to sell product without anybody within your cult questioning it. Nearly 3,000 people died in those attacks, Pastor Jim, yet you have no qualms whatsoever with replaying those attacks over and over again, from multiple angles, to scare people into buying your products. And your followers, amazingly, see nothing wrong with this. I guess it's true what they say: One bad apple spoils the bunch. And guess who that bad apple is, Jim?

Try as hard as you want, Jim, but you will not silence me here. If we ever found ourselves in a courtroom over your trouncing of my 1st Amendment rights, it would be a dream come true for this blogger.

Ron Johnson arriving for court
It will be a circus atmosphere, because I'll make it one. I'll arrive to court wearing stilts and maybe a big parrot perched on my shoulder. Aspiring young actors will be hired to give both comedic and dramatic readings of each of my blog posts to the captive audience of 12 jurors, a judge, and courtroom spectators. Together, we'll watch exhibit A, your show. We will compare your shows to my posts and dissect them, over and over again. The jury will hear you speak about Lori's five abortions. They'll see you fake cry. They'll hear you give phony prophecy about Steve Jobs...remember that one, Jim? Remember when you forgot the late Mr Job's first name? It was hilarious, but you didn't laugh because you were concentrating on telling your lie.

Just as you lost pathetically in your first courtroom appearance, you would lose again in your second. That's because you are wrong, Jim Bakker, and you know it. As this blog gains more and more attention, the likelihood of you being investigated increases. You and Morningside Church, Inc can censor Jim Bakker Show videos on YouTube to your evil heart's content, but you will not censor my own thoughts and words without a fight.

ey if Pastor calls for some kind soul to write a check for one million and it's fruitful, more power to him. A lot of folks out there believe in the Pastor. A lot of the folks are wealthy and know a good thing when they see it. Reverend Oral Roberts once asked for a million or God was going to call him home, know what, he got the million! If Pastor get's the money why should it bother you. Jessica went to Vegas and maybe blew thousands on the slot machines, why didn't she give it to charity. You folks have things backwards, to give to a good benefit like Morningside helps humanity.

He got his millions alright!

In 1987, with costs spiraling out of control, the medical center went largely vacant.Roberts told a television audience unless he raised $8 million by March, God would "call him home" (a euphemism for death). The donations goal was reached but Roberts soon began looking for buyers or people to manage the facility. In 1989, only eight years after it opened, the City of Faith was $25 million in debt and Roberts closed the hospital (the last patient left on 16 October).

"Dortsch anonymous" - OK, I looked at the dates/times you gave me. They do not support your allegation. In fact, they refute it. Brother Dortch's post today at 10:28am is correct. So... I do not understand where you are coming from. Except that you have a lot of venom backed-up and would perhaps benefit from some therapy.

help the deserving: here's a suggestion that may increase people's belief that Jim Bakker is helping humanity - there is a website "MinistryWatch.com" that has the following goal (from their website): "The objective is to limit consequences of scams and prevention of fraudulent activity, promote better allocations of giving, encourage intelligent questions of organizational structure, financial health, and advance the idea of organizational transparency and best practices."

MinistryWatch maintains a "donor alert" list where they caution people about questionable practices - the 2011 list includes: Kenneth Copeland and TBN. They also keep a list of "Shining Light" ministries - ministries that do exemplary work.

MinistryWatch has no record that I can find of Jim Bakker or Morningside.

How about - you know, because of all the questions about the finances, the constant running out of money, the contradictions and inconsistencies - Jim Bakker work with MinistryWatch and become a Shining Light? Then people could donate with confidence.

People can also send a request into MinistryWatch to add Morningside to their list of ministries to assess... but, they state "It is much easier to start research and a dialog with a ministry that is ready and willing to communicate with us."

Somehow I have a feeling Jim Bakker won't be all that willing to communicate.

Help the deserving @2:15 p.m. Thank you for your suggestion regarding how much money I spend in Vegas and why not donate it to charities and help the deserving instead of being so frivolous.

Okay person. I'll stop being so selfish with my time and money. At your suggestion, I will donate to a charity as soon as possible and I won't deduct it on my tax return for 2012 either just to prove to you what a great gal I am. Did Bakker ask you to scold me?

Anything else darlin?

Hi Jessica,

The self righteous christian from the Bakker camp who preached to you about how you spend your money gives their money to Jim Bakker. This fool thinks giving to Jim Bakker is a worthwhile use of her money! What a joke these folks from the cult are. Your odds are better in Vegas than with Bakker. The people supporting Bakker shouldn't preach at anyone about being selfish. There isn't a more self centered bunch than what you get with the Bakkerites. They hide out in their compound storing up all the junk Jim sells them to survive in this world they judge as wicked. They are not a classy bunch fools!

I just wish you young ones were around in the 80s for the old PTL club. It was a great era, Reagan as President giving us limited fears about terrorism none of this post 911 concerns. Heritage and PTL made you feel good about yourself and life in general. I like Lori but she is not Tammy Faye. She is Isabel Peron to Tammy's Evita Peron you might say. The older folks have the money so let them donate if it makes them feel good. The daughter has a spectacular voice and is very sweet.

Hubcap. What have you been smoking? Do they have a very powerful brand of reefer madness out in Missouri?

I am an old one too and lived through the embarrassment and anger I felt as a young Christian back then. People would come up to me - including my relatives - and say, "so that's the kind of Christianity you're telling me I need? I don't want any part of it!"

Bakker people talk about the people he has allegedly drawn to Christ; well, how about the tens of thousands he undoubtedly has caused to REJECT Christianity because of his antics.

The story ends with this,
" We can't speak to the fate of the world, but we do know this: if you pay what Bakker charges for survival gear, will end your personal prosperity a whole lot sooner."

I posted a question about the lack of a Morningside/Bakker form 990.

Some pro Bakker poster said that I'd see the financials if I donated.

I called and asked and no that's not the case.

Anonymous said...

What I find soooooooo ironic about the Heritage money scandals is that the Bakkers didn't need to engage in those antics to live like royalty. All they had to do was live off of the income from the books, tapes, etc. His CPA would crunch the numbers and tell him how much tax deductable money he needed to pump back in the ministry to keep him happily wealthy but not so that it would alientate donors. At that point you pay your taxes after deductions like everyone else and enjoy the good life. It would have worked. I guess that was too simple and honest.

I had a fit when Tammy Sue first arrived and he announced that she never received a penny from her first album which sold like crazy. Stealing from a child (his own child) is beyond comprehension. Then he said they, whoever they are, were going to give her, her own condo at Morningstar for whenever she is there. That young woman looks like a wounded bird who needs extensive therapy. I say that with the deepest respect. She has been to hell and back. That jerk of a father will only use her as a poster child for the poor, abused Bakkers. When she is no longer an asset, he will kick her to the curb. I am disgusted.

There was a show last week that I caught on the archive section of the web site. Momma Lori and TS went back and forth about how much they loved each other. Did anyone believe that? I think TS's voice has died some. If you catch her on youtube when she was younger it seems like it was a lot better back then.

I imagine any impressionable youngster that has come under his sphere of influence is damaged goods. I think it is quite possible that Jay Bakker e is in better shape psychologically and spiritually than one may think. He has gotten lots of therapy after years of various forms of self abuse. Would I chose his lifestyle? No. That's just my opinion. If he is ministering to the unloved/unlovely and actually reaching many of them, I think he has made it out the other side in better shape than I expected. I wish Tammy Sue had not turned James over to her father. I imagine she felt she had no other option, given what she has gone through with her mother's illness, death and struggles afterwards. It's one sad, sick situation.

I think Lori's House was always supposed to be built at the current site. I think the other site was a scam to open up a road for further developement. Lori's House is just a front to raise money that is being rerouted elsewhere. It is a facade to raise money that would be difficult to raise otherwise. When the other projects are done, Lori's House will be completed suddenly. This is ancient history. I was close with the director of the People That Love Centers and that project was badly abused. I say that as one of the early, huge centers that was promised the world in the way of support. They gave updates on our center and gave monthly stats. In return, we got truck loads of crap from the warehouses that they couldnt give away. Forget the missions' money we were promised and financial planning we did, based on their promises. I contacted Springfield over a Christmas distribution that they darn near ruined. My staff and myself took a 25% cut in low pay for three months to pay off our vendors who extended us credit on food that was purchased at cost. We got the good rate because we promised cash on delivery. We were blessed that they forgave us and gave us 90 days to clear the debt as we were riding on their nickel. Jeff, the national director, was beside himself on how things were operating and that he was director in name only. He was surprised that we were not attending the first People That Love Conference. I told him that we could spend what little money we had and would not use any ministry money after just getting the employees back up to normal wages. PTL offered to pay our expenses as a way of shutting us up and offered to put us up on the VIP floor of the original hotel. I told Jeff we could scrape together gas money if they would put us up in a modest cabin. I heard more horror stories at that conference than you can imagine.

The Bakker ministry will come down again. It will come from within as it did the first time. You just cant buid on that kind of foundation. Just sit back and watch it happen.

Can you tell more about the People That Love centers?

To Anonymous @ 9:38,

I pray you are correct and there is a person, or persons in that ministry with brains and guts enough to speak out. My guess is there is not at this point. Many people have been railroaded, abused, and discarded as you described from your PTL experience. They walk away and say and do nothing. The reason PTL went down is because there were true Christians who realized the deceitfulness if Jim and Tammy Faye and had to guts to do the right thing. I believe Jim is wiser this time and won't keep those around who have the moral integrity to stand up to him. You will not find high caliber Christians surrounding him now. There were two camps of followers back in the PTL days, those with no Godly wisdom who worshiped Jim and Tammy Faye, and those who worshiped God and wanted to serve Him. Today it's those folks with no wisdom again who are suckered by Jims crocodile tears and phony admissions of wrong doings. They believed Jim was falsely accused and wrongfully imprisoned. They now are back to worshiping Jim and blindly supporting him. I have watched them at the live show hearing what they must know are lies coming out of Jim's mouth and they just sit there like bobble heads nodding their heads in agreement. It is disgusting to say the least! It's frightening watching Jesus' warning that in the last days there will be many being led astray happening so clearing in front of my face. The bible does say you can be sure you're sin will find you out. It will be interesting to see how God brings it all down this time.

What I like about Jim's show is the structure, how it's put together. I especially like having the younger generation give their feed on life as it is to them. Zach, Little Jim, Sacha and the rest give a heart warming and thorough insight into a youngster POV. They are excellent spokesfolks for their contemporaries, if the majority of kids think like them I'd say the future looks bright.

Why are the christens avoiding me? The obvious deduction is they just "blew me off"?
